There are a few scenes that may be upsetting or disturbing to some readers, especially those who are sensitive to abuse. I don't believe the scenes are excessively explicit, but they are realistic. The domestic abuse, however, is not the main focus of the story nor do the scenes in which it occurs feature prominently throughout the book.
