Although the main characters (narrator/author) is younger for the majority of the book, focusing on her elementary school years as a new immigrant in Texas, the book covers high school and college. It's not necessarily inappropriate for younger readers, just that they may lose interest if the feel the later part of the book is less relevant to them.(less)
