It makes Hugo's wife dead in all the other universes and gives Clay an advantage when they jump because it guarantees Hugo is a wanted man. (less)

I know this is a murder mystery, so I was wondering how explicit the violence gets? I love books like this but can't stomach all the details. thanks!
Marlana The murders are not described in detail. There are a few sentences about blood each time, but that is about it. Hope that helps.

I enjoyed this book a lot but didn't understand what happened to the versions of the characters who existed in each place. I understand that they would be missing in the original life they left, but going from world (or multiverse) to world, are they just leaving a string of missing person reports? And if so, what happened to those existing versions of them?

This is what the author chose as one of his rules, but like the other comment said - how could they actually know that since they can't go back?

But as in answer to that, they can't go back, but they can move on without each other. So, for instance, in the end, Hugo moves on after The Time Team left him, so he could go and look and see that those people are no longer in existence.

But then if he moves on after them is he now on a different track? Will he never now be able to meet up with them?.... Lots of questions to explore going down that rabbit hole.

But basically, the author chose a full replacement leaving a wake of missing persons behind.

What happened to those existing versions of them? That is one question we don't get answered, unfortunately. (less)
