Litty No need. The author herself had said that you don't need to read the other books in the universe to understand this book. But some big things have hap…moreNo need. The author herself had said that you don't need to read the other books in the universe to understand this book. But some big things have happened with Zak in the previous series, i.e. Spellbound series, so if you have not read the Spellbound series, you will have a bit of mystery around "what might have happened with him", but you can find that out later when you start reading the Spellbound series... I do think you might enjoy this series better if you have read the Spellbound series, but if you don't wish to read the previous series, you can dive into this book without reading it. Either way, you can read the book.(less)
