If the 14-year old is an avid reader and able to maturely contemplate the meaning behind novels I would say yes. If the 14-year old is more into YA, maybe stick to YA. But at the end of the day if they want to read it, just let them read it, if they have any questions let them know you're there. Remember, we live in the age where anything is available online, I really don't think a 14-year old will be scarred or anything. (less)
