Both men knew each other and traveled in the same circle of arty and theatrical leaders of the late 19th century era in England. My Irene Adler books have been paying tribute to the writers whose main work established our main literary genres today: mystery, thriller, spy thriller, etc. Mary Shelley, the poet's wife is the exception, a woman who wrote the first science fiction thriller Frankenstein, earlier in the 19th century.(less)
