In spite of this contribution, I disagree with the author about the origin of nationalism and and the examples that he gives in the historical context of ancient times. In order to prove his claim, he says that Ancient Greeks used to name their enemies as barbarian but themselves as civic. He gives examples about Romes and Jews with the same aim. However, the use of the conception by the ancients is different from what we name the notion. Even if the same word is used in different historical contexts, the the word meets different meanings according to its use in a historical context. Nationalism in question as we use it today emerged in the modern age and it can be understood in the sociological and historical context of the modern age. . It is an invention modern liberal mind in which man is supposed to realize his self.(less)
