The main character is going into 7th grade, which in the town where the book is set is the beginning of middle school. It is definitely creepy from a paranormal standpoint, and it starts out with the heartbreaking death of an uncle who was like a father to the main character, so particularly sensitive readers might not enjoy it.(less)
