I have never researched this and am curious if anyone ever really did work to re united mothers with their babies? Someone should have made a concerted effort to do that.

For some reason, I've only just noticed your question. For many years, it was very hard for people to find each other. There have been some improvements but it can still be very difficult. The government has promised to change the law so that adopted people can get more information about their birth families, but so far nothing has happened. There are also kind people with knowledge in the area who try and help people to find out more. It was because of one such woman, who was trying to help someone in the US who believed they had a sibling in Ireland, that I got the idea for the book. Sorry again for the delay.(less)
