Mallory & Mikey don't click romantically, & there is no renovation subplot between them, so any incidental contractor would do. And, we could have learned of Sarah's existence & impact on the family without ever meeting her. So yes, why bother to introduce & then drop them? (less)

Does it all end in one book or is it a “to be continued” type of book? Haven’t read it yet, but I saw that this was “volume 1” and that lead me to assume there’s a 2nd volume of the same story. Would like it if it was not the “to be continued” type and just ended with one book.

The epilogue is minimal though, which probably means a sequal is in the works. (less)
