I've read four of the Joanna Brady series by J A Jance. I like the mysteries and the main characters, but I am tired of the whining daughter and the rude, manipulative mother of Joanna. I've given up listening to these books from my library because these two characters just grate on my ears. Joanna is a tough, smart woman but she's almost victimized by her mother. Does anyone else have an opinion on this?

On the other hand, the daughter went through a very traumatic event as did Joanna. Additional, the daughter just turned ten. Kids are whiny. (less)
