I have trying to figure out about the chief system as described in the book? I could not find anything in the internet. Does the chief system of an alley still exist in Cairo and other cities of Egypt? Also, the dervish monasteries? I kept pondering about the secretive lives behind the 'ancient walls'. Does Cairo still have the secretive, mystical dervish monasteries?
