It's about the character learning new things among a big group of people with different opinions, and I think in that way it's a wonderful way to think about a lot of these concepts for the first time. I think many 12-year-olds can handle the content, though of course it depends, and it would be a good idea to bring up things that you're not sure about with someone you trust.(less)
