Paula I think I read this at a very young age. Like maybe 2nd or 3d grade.

Why hasn't this book been made into a film? It would be wonderful.

I've just started reading this book and something puzzles me. This book was written in 1954 by a Canadian author, but all the measurements are in metric. Is that the case in the original edition, or is it because I'm reading the 1966 Scholastic edition?
