The center of conflict in this book is centered around a rape that happened before the events of the book. Though the author does not describe what happens during the rape, there is great discussion about the emotional aftermath for those involved. There are also several moments where men take advantage of the princesses in their weak state (due to the curse), and other women, that may be quite triggering. (less)

Though it is written in a young adult style, I would definitely recommend great caution when picking it up. (less)
