Is this book very gruesome? It mentions medical experimentation, and i don't want to read anything gory. i would really like to read this book though, so if anyone could answer the question i'd really appreciate it!
Shirley Freeman It is not gory or gruesome. No details about medical experimentation that I recall. It is both sad and hopeful.

How do you find the resolve in Josef's story? I would love to get that POV. He wasn't German enough or a soldier enough to be welcomed home by his family, but he also wasn't Jewish enough and didn't "suffer enough" like them, to stay and immerse himself with the people in the camp. I just wish his story had that hopeful tone like Zofia's
