The re-write is too vague for me--it lacks primary sources and the author is trying to hard with his tone to speak to young audiences by using colloquialisms and slang. Many terms go undefined like anti-racist, and assimilationist. Also, the author assumes that the reader is familiar with historical events. For example. he tells us the President Kennedy died, but now how (of course I know how..but his young readers may not yet depending on their prior knowledge and how much info they retained from their history courses). I am going to purchase the original book.(less)
