It's been over 2 yrs since the 2nd was published. The author has had time to write many other books, in this name and at least one other pen name, but neglected the third bookw in this series.

I read the first 2 books of another series, then read it a second time just before the third and final book was to be released, but it didn't get released. 4 years later, it still wasn't released. Some time ago, it was finally released. I believe it was 6 years after the 2nd book had been released. Maybe I'll read it after I've read my 3500-book Kindle library. There was another series by Sylvia Day that started out as a 3-part series. After the second book was published, she got a large-name publisher and the 3-book series became 5 or 6 books. I stopped at 2 books. Then there were a couple of series that were held up because the authors were accused of plagiarism. One was Aleatha Romig's Consequences series. I completely understand the desire to prevent plagiarism, but to hold up an author's book is akin to punishment for a crime not proven--the opposite of innocent until proven guilty, isn't it. Eventually, Ms. Romig was exonerated and her Consequences series released. It was an excellent read, by the way.

The bottom line is, I don't mind waiting a month for the next part of a series (that's a series, not 30- to 60-page book segment), but beyond that, as many books as I can read in that time, I can't recall the details very well so I end up re-reading the previous releases. Most of the time, I don't mind, but sometimes the final book in a series falls flat. In those cases, I feel I've wasted my time reading the previous books twice. And why read partial book when there are so many that are complete, end-to-end books?

Another thing. Too often, I see an entire series on sale for much cheaper than what I ended up paying. So, dedicated readers end up spending more for the books of their favorite authors. To me, that's backwards--readers who are dedicated to reading certain authors should be rewarded with the best prices. Instead, we are penalized for our dedication by purchasing and reading our favorite authors as soon their books are released, paying the premium price.

Well, I'm over all of that. Now, I mostly wait until holiday sales and buy at those points in time. [Sometimes, I might go to my wish lists of books I want to read", sort them by price and see if any of them are available for free or $0.99. Other times I subscribe to Kindle Unlimited and "book binge", i.e., see how many books I can read in 30 days.] I get some exceptional deals and read to my heart's content and then, I switch to other activities & hobbies. I still read a lot, but it's a littlttle less than it was. (less)
