#2 is better, but I still give both just 2 stars. You have to be a real history buff to enjoy this saga, as the emphasis is on the historical events, not the characters. I normally enjoy historical fiction, but with CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT and interactions among them, against the backdrop of the historical events. These books lack character development.(less)
