OK, does it make anyone else nuts that the number of years Thomas spends at Blackstock doesn't work out properly? Extremely mild spoiler: Or can someone convince me that it does actually add up to seven years, or that it doesn't matter that it doesn't add up?

If I recall correctly (I have not read recently) it is implied that Thomas got drawn into Medeous' circle as a tag-along of his older brother, Kit, who likely HAS been in and around the school for that long. Thomas' involvement may pre-date his own enrollment.(less)
