Can this book be read as a stand alone? I read skimmed the first book in the series, read the second, wasn't really interested in reading the rest but this one caught my attention recently with all the good reviews.

I read the first three or so year ago and picked the series back up. Although I remember a lot, I do feel like it would be better to go back.

All in all, if you really don't enjoy the others, then you can give this one a try.(less)
