A book as sorely under-rated as Little Dorrit is over-praised. Any takers ?

My…moreI have been reading all the Dickens novels I have not previously read chronologically in the last couple years, every so often reading another one. My doing so at my leisure, and not all one after another, is because I have slowed my pace to enjoy each one I had yet to experience like the finest of wines, slowly and fully appreciating each one. I have loved every single novel from The Pickwick Papers to, currently, Dombey and Son. Each one makes me love him all the more, and fills this optimist with better hopes for all of humanity. I look forward to Little Dorrit and the others I have yet to enjoy. Dombey and Son is vastly underrated, as I rarely hear it mentioned among his best works, and that is a major oversight and a shame.(less)

For those who would like to see a really good television series based on this book, I recommend the one produced in French and which can be watched on Amazon Video. This two part series has strong actors, and is very well produced. I particularly like the way the women are portrayed in this program, very strong females, even Florence in her own quiet way. It's called Dombey and Son, just like Dicken's novel. ?
