I thought the last book was supposed to be the last one? And it was awful I am not sure I want to give her another chance at this point she totally ruined the character in book 13 but then I also kind of hope maybe this will bring her back to who she was before that book I am not sure if I can handle the heartbreak again.

I am confused, just started "American Demon" after rereading "A witch with no name". That ended 20 years in the future, American Demon seems to start right after the disaster. Will I find out more as I read on, or is this a quirk?
Laurel Reinoehl You will find out more about that epilogue. It is addressed, but rather quickly. Sleep - and what you do when asleep - are important in this book.

The author starts the book with preface that goes over the characters and events in the series to catch you up. And TBH, the author often ignores things that happened in previous books anyways!

FYI I was pretty disappointed with American Demon and I think at least part of the reason was because I did a full re-read, so I wouldn't even suggest it. It just makes it clear that the author doesn't feel she can let Rachel grow (even now, 6 yrs later!) b/c she keeps sticking with the same plot structure in every book. Like literally, Rachel has to be rendered powerless (captured and held hostage in some way) and then rescued by her friends in EVERY SINGLE BOOK. At this point, the author has to keep turning Rachel into a clueless idiot to make her plots work.
