The scenes of torture, abuse, and sexual abuse are fairly graphic and disturbing (as they should be). They are well-written, not gratuitous, and appropriate to paint the setting for the series, but I wouldn't recommend until 16-17 years old at the earliest. This is adult fiction. (less)
