I know I'm about to ask a ""weird"" question but, does the writing style of the author in this book is beautiful, like is it well-written? I'm asking this question because usually contemporary books are written in a pretty simple way/style. Thanks for your future answers !

But it is a book about a young woman who is only partially educated, and it takes her voice. As she becomes more educated, the sentences start to be more grammatically correct. It's well written in the sense that it is true and faithful to Audinni, the main character. (less)

I cant believe this isn't on more book club lists?! I have not finished it yet but I love it so far. The writing . . . well one would say it is broken English, but it sings. The cadence is beautiful and the choose of words really wakens you to language in a new way.

Rebecc It's been many years since I've read the Colour Purple, but what I also took from Abi Dare's wonderful book was the importance of women helping other …moreIt's been many years since I've read the Colour Purple, but what I also took from Abi Dare's wonderful book was the importance of women helping other women wherever possible starting with Adunni's mother helping Aya, Khadijah helping Adunni & vice versa & most importantly Tia helping Adunni succeed. Women are stronger together & sometimes even the smallest assistance can make a massive difference which is something we can all carry forward in our own lives.(less)
