Of course, it's unlikely that very young members of the population will grasp the deeper thoughts running through it, but the story is easy to understand as Doug and Tom and the other inhabitants of the town grow older during the summer. I think children would still be entertained. As for other age groups... It'll warm and cool adult hearts, fill them with wistfulness for a time gone and a life yet to be lived. Bradbury is definitely worth reading.(less)

As for changes in the actual writing there doesn't seem to be anything to big, maybe punctuation and dialogue format(?). Bradbury began to change his dialogue to suit the mysteries and detective stories he was writing at the time.(less)
