Anne Glenconnor is funny and forgiving to a husband who sounded like a complete ogre to live with. An excellent read (less)

I couldn't find book club questions for this book anywhere, so here are the ones I wrote myself:

1. Which revelation of Lady Anne’s colorful life surprised you the most?
2. Throughout the book, Lady Anne mentions not “dwelling” on emotions or problems. Do you think the British upper-crust model of not discussing anything unpleasant and maintaining a “stiff upper lip” is laudable or stunting? Can it be both?
3. Do you think Colin Tennant was mentally ill, or just spoiled and indulged, or both?
4. Lady Anne seems not to be upset at laws banning her as a daughter from inheritance but upset about those laws as a wife. How do her experiences reflect on the roles of women?
5. What was your favorite anecdote of Colin’s bad behavior?
6. Did you ever feel anger or frustration with Lady Anne? Why?
7. As friends pass away, the house and grounds embody her memories. Do you have sacred places in your life that remind you of certain people (alive or dead)? Where would you like to be remembered?
8. “Cowardy Cowardy Custard” is what Lady Anne’s sister and cousins would taunt her with. Did you or your siblings/cousins have similar childhood taunts?
9. If you were suddenly given a lady in waiting, what sort of things would you have her do?
10. Imagine the things Lady Anne left out of this memoir. What do you think she must have witnessed at the parties on Mustique?
