Has anyone found the amount of "romance" in the first few chapters to be too much to handle considering the story itself? I find it to be over-emphasized, making the story sound almost like an afterthought, which it should not be. Haven't read any further than the first few chapters as a result and am quite disappointed so far.

1) Has anyone found the amount of "romance" in the first few chapters to be too much to handle considering the story itself?
2) Given the troubled times in which they live, was it wise to embark on a new relationship?
3) How could Ingrid be so oblivious to the horrific things the Nazi's were doing?
4) Is it worth it to put himself (Josef) at risk for the sake of another? Can he find the courage to extend himself for another?
5) How do you weigh the value of your life against the potential of another’s life?
6) What matters to you enough that you would sacrifice your own life?
7) Would we risk our life to save the lives of others as the brave Dutch people did?
8) What would you do in times of war? Be part of the active resistance? Hide those persecuted in your home? Marry the enemy?
