1) I assume that Emil=Leopold, after leaving the farmer's house, drove the Falcon to the coach (bus?) station, abandoned it, disappeared and subsequently turned up again in Rekyavik to continue working with Lothar. Correct? 2) If Lothar entered Iceland but there was no record of him having ever left, how did he get into an East German prison after being exposed as a double agent?

I listened to this book on tape so I can't go back and check this out. But wasn't that Ford Falcon red in the beginning of the book? It turns black somewhere along the line. Might be my imagination, though
