I like the answer given by K17a17s and just want to add I felt the author gave too short shrift to that extremely important part of the story. Just left it hanging. They have the scene in the nursing home where the mother talks to Maggie about the mole on her neck, like her being like her father and somehow Maggie figures out Frank was her real father (?) that’s thin... and the next scene when the mother is on speaker phone is when the reverend takes to gun out of his Bible and goes Angel hunting.

Somewhere the story flips to the reverend following Odette to the field where Odette thinks Trumanell was buried but it was really the gun... and you have to back up hundreds of pages where it says “Behind me I hear a gun cock” and when I turn I’m reminded what seventy times seven means” and THAT is supposed to tie up with her knowing it was the reverend at the end.

Ok - VERY thin. Such an important part of the story?? How and why did the reverend know to follow her? I got it when he was hunting Angel but why/how/when did he know to hunt hunt when Odette was digging?

Yeah, I am confused too. (less)
