All the King's Books No, there are a few references to the first book but most characters are new. I had read the first book but more than one year ago and I didn't rememb…moreNo, there are a few references to the first book but most characters are new. I had read the first book but more than one year ago and I didn't remember any of the characters names. Recurring characters have quite small roles ultimately.
As for the storyline, I would say it's an independent story on itself.(less)
