Verbal apraxia better explains Emil’s limited ability to communicate. It is thought that about one-third of people with autism also have verbal apraxia. I found the portrayal of Emil Johannes somewhat believable, particularly his limited ability to speak. And while I know that every person with an autism diagnosis is unique, what was less believable was that he was able to drive a three wheel vehicle and live on his own.(less)
