where did haroun and his family live?

Can it be confirmed or denied that as much as "The Walrus" and "The Eggheads" seem to be a thinly veiled reference to The Beatles, "Butt, The Hoopoe" refers to the English 70's band Mott the Hoople? Seems too perfect to be a coincidence.

This novel asks the question of why storytelling is important. According to the novel, why is storytelling important? How does it shape us as humans and a culture? What would happen if people no longer told stories?
