Either one is correct. Everyone knows what you're talking about either way, but Christ is not Jesus's last name so Jesus the Christ is more correct.

That would be like using someone's job or profession and using it as their last name. If Isaac was a fisherman his whole life his name would not be Isaac Fisherman, it would be Isaac Shrout although people may call him Isaac the Fisherman.

Either way everyone knows what you're talking about.(less)

How should one best go about reading it? I've picked it up several times, read a couple of chapters (slowly, one by one) and put it back down, figuring I'm not ready for it. But I want to read it.

I decided to start reading it this time around as an historical novel. I basically knew and had had heard the stories about Jesus and wanted to get a clearer picture of the period of time surrounding Jesus' life and the people who despised him so greatly. I read the chapters like a novel and the end note for historical background. It seemed to work for me once I got started.(less)
