Thousands of people used to laugh and cheer as whole families -babies and all - were thrown in the colosseum to hungry lions, for their religious and political views.
You can connect it to current society. Mention politics on social media and see how quickly you're attacked. Heck, say something for or against vaccines.
Ever hear something about drinking the Kool aid?
Look at the blind following of certain politicians or celebrities. Look at Antifa and other radical groups. These things don't come from nowhere. It's human nature to follow the crowd and for ignorant people to get swept up in extreme, often violent events or movements. (less)
