Toward the end of the book, the protagonist says something about "crossing fingers" for good luck, but I can't remember the term he used. Kings....something?

Believe he says "King's X", which isn't about wishing someone good luck, but is, according to Merriam-Webster, an "interjection used as a cry in children's games to claim exemption from being tagged or caught or to call for a time out."
