I think this hints at the real truth behind the issue: the common intuition about freedom is self-contradictory and basically wants to
a) deny determinism but embrace its concrete consequences (or rather, characteristics of freedom for which determinism is a necessary but not sufficient condition), and
b) affirm indeterminism but deny all its concrete consequences.(less)
