As having learned that Jose Saramago adopted socialist philosophy, I guess 'Seeing', by using some symbols, criticizes some sorts of governance (liberalism, capitalism, or else). Can any of the commenters provide me a broader aspect of these codes or any link leading to a satisfying explanation?
