Ever noted the similarities in the Poison Study series to Sara J. Maas' A Court of Thorns and Roses? For example, Yelena's interaction with the homeless kids in the courtyard is a lot like Feyre giving her jewels to the water-wraith during the compulsory tax. Or the comparison of the brotherly bond between overly-powerful soldiers Ari and Janco to Azriel and Cassian?

Is there a beginning of a love triangle in Magic Study? I loved Valek and love triangles are definitely a deal breaker.

burnie If there is, the third point is definetly one sided love and not returned by the other character in the book.

I don't know whether or not I should continue this series. I've been reading reviews for both Magic and Fire Study, and so many of them are negative! I want to know for myself what happens, but I also don't want to waste my time on a book (or books) that could disappoint me. Also, the apparent lack of Valek (from the reviews I've read) is swaying me away from reading them. Should I do it?
