A book might be about something negative, but it's only going to be a problem for you if you're already in a place where you're allowing something to affect you mentally. If you're suffering as a result of your experiences, seek professional help. If you're not suffering but you want to read about something you think you know about from a different perspective, then go ahead and do so. No one is going to be able to tell you if a/you're going to like the book at all or b/ if it's going to have any kind of negative affect on you, because ultimately, we're all different.
