1) Why did the author place Elizabeth and the children in Ballycreggan, County Roscommon?
2) Were you curious if in Ballycreagan if there was a home for the children?
3) Was there a memorial to Gather Dominac?
4) How gut-wrenching for Ariella Bannon to have to put her ten year old daughter Liesl and son Erich who is barely seven onto the Kindertransport to keep them safe because the Brownshirts are rounding up Jewish families right and left?
5) Would you be able to give up your children and send them away to a complete stranger for only God knows how long?
6) What happened to the parents of these children?
7) Why did the Germans allow the Krystallnacht and the persecution of the Jews?
8) Were all Germans persecutors and Jew-haters?
9) How did the people in safer countries regard the refugees from Germany?
10) How did the German, Polish, and Czech children learn and grow without their parents?
11) What is the world coming to when neighbors you've been friends with for years are now looking at you with hatred because you're a Jew?
