The series is basically a lot of standalone books, all taking place in the same city - Camassia Cove.
Some characters cross-over between the books, so you get a small chance to catch up with characters from previous books in the series. But you don't notice this unless you already know about them (coming from someone who read the series completely out of order). It doesn't feel like there is something that you are missing or don't understand, because you haven't read the other books.(less)
