It’s not meant to be understood how Lassiter was able to…moreTherese was an adult for the entire book. The child being left on a doorstep was a flashback. It’s not meant to be understood how Lassiter was able to put Selena’s soul into a child’s body. It was implied that this was premeditated. As in it was Selena’s fate from the beginning. The Scribe Virgin is a different person than Lassiter. Just because he chose to do something to provide this miracle to Trez doesn’t mean the Scribe Virgin would be willing, or even have the same inclination, to do the same for someone. I believe it’s about faith. And as the reader you’re meant to just understand that miracles of the spiritual variety are meant to be accepted as a blessing without many of the details.
