Before she was able to be tried in Court, she died of cancer. Please read the first book, "Before We Were Yours", which explains the story of how Ms. Georgia Tann secured the children, ran the Tennessee Children Home Society (which was wretched), and how she found adoptive parents.

She was an evil woman who preyed upon the poor during the depression years and through WWII.

This true story (written as fiction) has nothing to do with the US Government or immigrant families. (less)

One of the problems with this book is that the author portrays this inhumane behavior toward children and families as a one-off. It most definitely is not and continues to this day.
