I'm vexed by this story. There's a big reveal at the end of the book that would have been very impactful had it not been already surmised by the main character dozens of pages beforehand. I actually went back to make sure I had interpreted it properly. Am I missing something?

I am reading it now and it's seems to be perfectly written to all those who like me are not native english-speakers. Undoubtedly, Paul Auster is one of my favorite writers. It's my second book so far and I wish I could continue reading in the foreseeable future more books with that splendid way of thinking. Is there anybody else who can recommend me another one? thanks
