To give you an image of what to expect: the main character of this book (Cammon) is part of a group of friends who have known each other since the first volume. He also interacts with many other characters we have already met in the previous installments. The context this book takes place in has also been developing for three volumes now, so you would 'enter' in the middle of an already mature conflict (with some well established sides).

However, the book includes short explanations which are definitely useful in understanding what is happening, so I think you would enjoy this book on its own. But reading it first will definitely spoil the plot of the previous three books, if you ever intend to read them as well :)(less)
