why did ines leave italy with jim?

I/we, me and my wife read this book and enjoyed it. We got intrigued by the location and so we went there. We live north of Milan. Well, well, Rofelle as a village or some described in the book does not exist. Itg is a valley withe houses scattered around. We actually found the agriturismo Il Casalone in San Patrignano, that is not even a village, I would say not even ten houses. The mill by the river, Il Molino, is ?
