Is this a book you could jump into without reading prior books? Trying to figure out a starting point that doesn't involve going back 70+ books.

Even if you were to read all the TNG books this builds on it's "only" around 30. But more specifically this is a direction continuation of a storyline that was started around 15 years ago in "A Time To Kill" and "A Time To Heal". The books since then introduced new characters that show up here. There are some other large events that were detailed in other books (like the Destiny trilogy). And some events tie into the last Titan book. Having that history would probably make the book more satisfying, but it's not strictly necessary. Even reading the two mentioned books isn't absolutely needed. These books always recap important previous events.(less)
