When reasoning analogically it is always necessary to be sure the analogy is comparable in every respect, otherwise it is a logical fallacy. This fails in every respect. As others have pointed out, Goodreads should not be used to troll, especially with such a clumsy attempt!(less)

Indeed, the report cites numerous interactions between the campaign and indirectly Trump and the Russians. The latter is what would be expected. Even in legitimate transactions, staff handles details rather than the principal. In criminal actions it is even more imperative that the principal is not directly involved as it provides plausible deniability. As a result Trump uses the "Mafia defense" of "I didn't tell those guys to do that." That is how John Gotti became the Teflon Don, and Al Capone used that in connection with the St. Valentines Day massacre in 1929. No, the report documents numerous interactions with Russia and also that Trump obstructed efforts to investigate those interactions. Nothing could be less true than James McDonald's assertion!(less)

The introduction clearly breaks down why this report was necessary. Volume one clearly indicates why it was legitimate.

This investigation wasn’t called for by James Comey (a registered Republican until 2016, and Independent thereafter), but by Democratic lawmakers in the U.S. Congress (not Comey’s “friends in the FBI”), after President Donald Trump fired the lead investigator examining links between Russian officials and associates of Trump. Congress’s call for an investigation following that suspicious firing lead Deputy Attorney General Rob Rosenstein (a Republican) to appoint Robert Mueller (a Republican) to take over the investigation, while expanding it to examine Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. elections.

There is no question that the Russian government interfered in the 2016 presidential elections, nor that several individuals committed criminal acts during this time. The investigation has already lead to 34 separate indictments. 14 criminal investigations have been referred to other offices—including Michael Cohen (Trump’s personal attorney) and Gregory Craig (a Democrat and White House council under Presidents Clinton and Obama). This report is non-partisan and examines actual crimes and concerns. Begin reading the introduction and first volume and it is very clear why there was a reason for concern. That reason was not retaliation, it was actual, proven interference in our government by a foreign entity, and the potential that such interference is ongoing and connected to the highest position in the U.S. government.(less)

I was astonished at the compilation of documents available regarding Trump and his lead up to running for president.

Mueller claimed that he was constrained by a legal opinion within the Justice Department holding that a president cannot be charged with a crime while in office in not charging Trump with these ten acts of obstruction.(less)
