Does the book reference the nuances & myths? For example, the fact that it cannot be seen from space, that an awful lot of it is actually fishing gear and not post-consumer waste, and the fact that it is not the only vortex of plastic? It states that "fishing nets make up more than half of the large plastic objects in the Garbage Patch." It also has a map that shows the various trash vortices. Maybe you should try reading the book before you accuse it of spreading propaganda.

The book does not mention whether the garbage can be seen from space, but I don't see why such a disclaimer is required, or for that matter why it matters whether it's visible from space or not. Are you saying that things don't matter unless they can be seen from space?(less)
